Grobstick's hat trick helped the Whalers crush the Ice Hawks 8-1

Carter Grobstick led the way with a hat trick as the Wisconsin Whalers crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 8-1 in a home game at Oregon Ice Arena in Wisconsin. Nick Rogers and Dan Lienemann also had big nights with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) and 4 points (0 goals, 4 assists) respectively. As well, the Wisconsin Whalers' offense had a big night, peppering Rochester with 60 shots throughout the game. The Wisconsin Whalers took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from John Vandervalk.

Tanner Mros contributed with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Jimmy Mcdermott did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first period, Rogers opened the scoring for the Whalers with a goal at 2:48 with helpers from teammates Mros and Rohrer.

During the second, Vandervalk put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 8:23. Grobstick deposited a goal at 16:28 with helpers from Huson and Lienemann. Mros quickly followed with a goal at 18:07 with assists from his linemates, Mcdermott and Fortin.

In the third, Watt finally put the Ice Hawks on the board with a goal at 2:05. Mcdermott quickly followed with a goal at 2:54 with helpers from his linemates, Mros and Damon. Grobstick scored a goal at 12:18 with assists from his linemates, Rogers and Lienemann. Grobstick deposited a goal at 15:34 with helpers from his linemates, Lienemann and Rogers. Rogers netted a goal at 17:56 with assists from Lienemann and Steines.

Wisconsin’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Hufford’s big night as he stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced. Hufford’s counterpart, Murphy, also had a big night, managing to stop 52 of 60, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Wisconsin Whalers’ record to (1-12-0-1).
