Rogers' hat trick helped the Whalers crush the Ice Hawks 7-2

Nick Rogers led the way with a hat trick as the Wisconsin Whalers crushed the Rochester Ice Hawks 7-2 in a home game at Rochester Recreation Center in Wisconsin. In addition, the Wisconsin Whalers' offense had a big night, peppering Rochester with 47 shots throughout the game. The Wisconsin Whalers took the lead early in the second on a goal from Dan Lienemann.

Jimmy Mcdermott delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Dan Lienemann chipped in with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).

In the first, Rogers opened the scoring for the Whalers with a goal at 3:51 with helpers from his linemates, Mcdermott and Mros. Rogers netted a goal at 9:13 with helpers from teammates Lienemann and Hefty. Decarlo finally put Rochester on the board with a goal at 16:35 with assists from his linemates, Watt and Renn.

In the second period, Lienemann answered for Wisconsin with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 0:28 with an assist from defenseman Day.

In the third, Gille scored a goal at 4:43 with helpers from Rogers and Huson. Mcdermott netted a goal at 7:04 with assists from his linemates, Fortin and Gille. Curry answered for Rochester with a goal at 9:29 with helpers from his linemates, Smits and Roach. Rogers answered for the Whalers with a goal at 12:41 with an assist from Lienemann. Rohrer scored a goal at 19:13 with helpers from Onstott and Mros.

Wisconsin’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Earls’ big night as he stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced. Earls’ counterpart, Carlson, also had a big night, managing to stop 40 of 47, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Wisconsin Whalers’ record to (2-12-0-1).
