Steines quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 10:15 with helpers from Grobstick and Rogers. Hrebik answered for Wausau with a goal at 14:16. Grobstick quickly followed with a goal at 15:57 with an assist from Cross.
Wisconsin’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Earls as he stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced. Earls’ counterpart, Sanzottera, also had a big night, managing to stop 46 of 51, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Wisconsin Whalers’ record to (17-25-1-1).
