Sam Hanson had a big night with 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) as the Wisconsin Whalers crushed the Wausau RiverWolves 8-0 in a home game at Marathon Park in Wisconsin. Also, Alex Hufford posted a shutout, stopping all 28 of Wausau shots throughout the game. The Wisconsin Whalers took the lead late in the first on a goal from Sam Hanson and never looked back.
Jimmy Mcdermott delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Nick Rogers did his part, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists).
In the first period, Hanson opened the scoring for the Whalers with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:20 with helpers from his linemates, Mcdermott and Rogers.
In the second, Tobey netted a goal at 10:20 with a helper from defenseman Day. Fortin deposited a goal at 12:46 with assists from his linemates, Ether and Gille. Ether quickly followed with a goal at 13:12 with an assist from fellow Whalers forward Gille. Mcdermott put in a goal at 16:14 with helpers from teammates Hanson and Huson.
In the third, Mcdermott netted a goal at 1:47 with assists from his linemates, Hanson and Rogers. Mros deposited a goal at 12:23 with helpers from Hefty and Timm. Rogers quickly followed with a goal at 14:19 with an assist from Hanson.
The Whalers’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Hufford’s shutout, as he stopped all 28 of the shots he faced. Hufford’s counterpart, Baribeau, also had a big night, managing to stop 71 of 79, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Wisconsin Whalers’ record to (15-21-1-1).
